Chamber of Commerce Fabulous Fashion Show

Garden Grove Chamber of CommerceMark the calendars for the Fabulous February Fashion Show scheduled on February 16, 2014 at 10:30 in the morning at the Garden Grove Elks Lodge located at 11551 Trask Avenue, Garden Grove, Orange County, California.

The Fabulous February Fashion Show is an annual initiative of the Women’s Division of the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce.  More than just a fashion show, this event also features a lovely lunch, various shops with vendors, and silent and live auctions.

Tickets are at $30 for pre-event purchases and $35 for onsite purchases.

Headed by Kelly Anvari, the Women’s Division serves the purpose of promoting and coordinating civic improvement and community-wide cultural and art projects. Its members meet once a month over a luncheon held every third Thursday.

Teen Digital Photography Club Meeting

Join the Teen Digital Photography Club Meeting on February 11, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon at the Garden Grove Regional Library over at 11200 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove, California.

Recurring every second Tuesday of the month, the Teen Digital Photography Club is perfect for teenagers who are interested to learn more about and harness their skills on digital photography. Participants under 18 years old are requested to supply duly accomplished permission slips as there will be photo walking activities and tours that will be taking place outside the Library premises.

In case this particular class is missed, the succeeding club meetings will take place on March 11 and April 8, 2014.

The Garden Grove Regional Library is operational beginning 10:00 in the morning from Monday to Saturday and closes at 5:00 in the afternoon on Fridays and Saturdays and at 9:00 in the evening on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. It is also open from noon to 5:00 in the afternoon on Sundays.

Garden Grove Lights Christmas Tree

The City of Garden Grove and the Garden Grove Community Foundation present the Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration on December 3, 2013 from 6:30 to 7:30 in the evening under the clock tower in the Village Green.

Featuring live entertainment and holiday refreshments, the Celebration will culminate with the appearance of Santa and Mrs. Claus and the actual lighting of the spectacular Christmas tree.

Food booths will be available at the venue beginning at 5:00 in the afternoon.

Unlike the previous celebrations, this year will feature the sale of traditional Latin American food to be prepared by the members of the Orange County League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Foundation, a non-profit organization which is the oldest and largest Latin American civil rights and advocacy group.

Having started in 1998, the Garden Grove Community Foundation has long since been active in the transformation and development of the city. In 2002, it spearheaded the construction of a 45-foot tall clock tower named “Tower on the Green” which is located inside the city’s oldest park.

Vogue Offers Line Dancing Classes

The Vogue Dance Club is conducting Line Dancing classes every Friday from 8:00PM to midnight at the Cedarbrook Dance Center located at 12813 Garden Grove Blvd., Garden Grove, CA.

The Vogue Dance Club is composed of members from diverse backgrounds who got together because of their love for dancing.

Meeting on a weekly basis, the Club practices different kinds of Ballroom and Line dances.

Non-members of the Club who are interested in learning how to dance are most welcome to attend. Knowledgeable and able dancers are also encouraged to become a member of the Club family.

The Club’s mission is to provide an avenue for individuals with the same passion for dancing to socialize and mingle with others.

Garden Grove Hosts Indie Film Festival

Indie Fest USAFilm aficionados are in for a special treat this October as Indie Fest USA brings you the 2013 International Film Festival of Garden Grove at the Historic Main Street and Village Green Park of Garden Grove, CA. Happening on October 24-26, 2013, each day has something different to offer which will take its participants on a historical trip through film industry history and tour the various cinematic cultures of countries from across the globe.

October 24th will see the opening night of the festival dubbed as “Fiesta de las Peliculas (Fiesta of Films) Celebration.” Expect a complete assault of the senses as live music and gastronomic dishes highlight the preliminary activity of what is expected to be a jam-packed event.

Marvel at the showcasing of classical cars on the 25th during the free outdoor screening of car films themed as “Drive in Style.” Get a taste of the orient as the Asian Film Showcase takes center stage on the 26th.

2013 Food for Thought Luncheon

The Garden Grove Community Foundation is inviting everyone to be a part of the 15th Annual Food for Thought Luncheon happening on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 11:30 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon at 12015 Harbor Boulevard, Garden Grove, CA.

The luncheon seeks to provide a positive example to the youth and to help them develop meaningful interactions with the business community.

Members of the community are incited to participate and sponsor a youth for as low as $25 per student.

Award-wining speaker, entrepreneur, author, founder and owner of People in Progress Global, Terry Hawkins will be gracing the event. She will be sharing the secrets to achieving great success in spite of hardships and negativity. She will also be sharing her experiences that will help alter people’s perspective forever.

AAOC Support Group Meeting

alzheimers associationThe Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County (AAOC) is inviting everyone to their support group meeting happening on September 21, 2013 from 1:00 in the afternoon onwards at the Crystal Cathedral Arboretum located at 12141 Lewis St., Garden Grove.

This activity brings together caregivers and families who have loved ones who are affected by dementia. In this free and open meeting, participants will be able to share experiences and exchange ideas on how to best handle their situations.

These support group sessions are faith-based and may include a prayer of a pastoral speaker.

This event is made possible by the AAOC whose mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

2013 Garden Grove Day Camp

City of Garden Grove CaliforniaDon’t miss the Garden Grove Day Camp happening on August 30, 2013 from 7:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening located at Village Green, 12732 Main Street.

This event is open to children between the ages of five and twelve years old. It features a variety of recreational experiences including games, crafts, activities, songs and field trips.

Aside from being able to make new friends, participants will also be able to make new acquaintances as well as lasting memories.

This ten-week program allows campers to be creative, achieve self-expression, gain self-confidence, and build team skills through activities and group games.

Recreation Leaders are trained in basic first aid and CPR.

Admission to the camp is priced at $90 per week. This includes a t-shirt, morning snacks, lemonade and water, and lunch on Fridays.

Campers must wear sun block and closed toe shoes.

Surf City Garage Show 2013

5th Annual Surf City Garage Car ShowThe Orange County Mustang Club is inviting everyone to the 5th Annual Surf City Garage Car Show happening on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 10:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon in Huntington Beach, California.

This event features all makes and models including American muscle cars, trucks, sports cars, hot rods, classics, customs, and more!

Aside from the wide array of automobiles on display, visitors will also get the chance to experience the thrill of NASCAR racing through the full-sized simulators available at the venue.

In addition, there will be Surf City Garage tours, loads of entertainment, vendor booths, great food, music, give-aways, and a huge raffle for everyone.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the Spinal Muscular Atrophy and the City of Hope.
