Garden Grove Free Summer Concerts

The Garden Grove Community Foundation (GGCF) in cooperation with the City of Garden Grove is inviting everyone to the Free Summer Concert Series happening Thursday Nights from July 11th to August 15th at the Eastgate Park.

The artists schedule is as follows:

* July 11th: Sandbox who will be playing today’s hits.

* July 18th: Neil Marrow who will be playing Country Rock

* July 25th: Instant Replay who will be playing 80s and 90s classics

* August 1st: The Funky Hippeez who will be playing 70s/Disco music

* August 8th: The Answer who will be playing Classic Rock

* August 15th: Stone Soul who will be playing Motown

The GGCF will also be presenting The Voice of Garden Grove, a pre-show event where preselected high school students compete each week in a singing competition. The winner from each night moves to the finals and will compete on August 15. The winning student will receive a $500 scholarship and a $500 donation to their high school choral program.

Summer Aquatics Registration in Garden Grove

City of Garden Grove CaliforniaThe City of Garden Grove is inviting everyone to sign up for the Summer Aquatics Program on Thursday, May 30th 2013 via www.ggparksandrec.com.  The registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Admission is dependent on the number of students that each class can allow.

The Summer Aquatics Program that will run from June to August features an integrated learning opportunity for swimmers of all skill levels. The lessons will feature a harmonious blend of American Red Cross swimming lessons and recreational swimming at four pool locations throughout the city.

This event seeks to develop the swimming skills of the participants as well as to promote safety, health and exercise, as well as social interaction.

Swimming classes consist if eight lessons spread over a two-week period.

Participants will be able to avail of Swim passes, pool rentals, and other swimming opportunities.

2013 Strawberry Festival in Garden Grove

2013 Garden Grove Strawberry FestivalJoin the City of Garden Grove for a celebration dedicated to red, luscious, and plump fruits and be a part of the 2013 Strawberry Festival happening on May 24th to 27th at the Village Green, between Main Street and Euclid Streets in downtown Garden Grove, CA.

This festival is a charitable event that benefits local organizations and also brings together members of the community for days of revelry and camaraderie.

Garden Grove Spring Aquatics Program

The City of Garden Grove is inviting everyone to be a part of the 2013 Spring Aquatics Program. People can register online at http://www.ggparksandrec.com from April 15th to May 9th, at the City Hall’s Recreation Center during office hours from May 13th to 16th, or at the pool site from May 20th until the end of the season.

The Spring Aquatics Program gives the participants a chance to develop their swimming skills to promote personal safety, health, exercise, and social interaction. The classes will last for two weeks, Mondays through Thursdays, for forty minutes a day. Session A will be from May 20th to 31st.

Lessons will take place at the Gary Hall Pool located at 12001 St. Mark Street. It is open for swimmers of all skill levels and is also open for kids as young as three years old.

The registration fee for the program is $45.

CERT Training at Garden Grove

City of Garden Grove CERTThe City of Garden Grove is inviting everyone to be a part of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Academy on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the North Net Fire Training Center, 2400 E. Orangewood Avenue, Anaheim, CA from 8:30 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon.

The training will cover an Introduction to Disaster Preparedness, CERT Organization/Incident Command Structure (I.C.S.), Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations I & II, Light Search & Rescue Operations/Cribbing, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism, CPR, Radio Communications, Disaster Simulation/Graduation.

Participants must be at least 18 years old to join and must live or work in the City of Garden Grove to join the training. Attendance in all of the classes is required for successful completion and certification.

Atlantis Play Center 5th Annual Eggs-Cavation

5th Annual Eggs-cavationEnjoy a fun and exciting way to celebrate Spring and join the 5th Annual Eggs-cavation happening on March 23, 2013 at the Atlantis Play Center from 11:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the Afternoon.

At the heart of this special event is the Egg Hunt that will be open for up to 300 kids between the ages of 3 and 10 years old. Other activities include face painting, a petting zoo, carnival games, arts and crafts, and a Moon Bounce. There will also be snacks available in many booths in the event grounds.

Garden Grove Home Depot DIY Workshop

The Home DepotJoin the Home Depot at their Do-It-Yourself workshop featuring front entrance updates happening on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10801 Garden Grove Blvd., Garden Grove, CA 92843 from 10:00 until 11:30 in the morning.

This unique seminar will allow participants to select the correct tools and materials needed to build a paver path, spread gravel and sand as a foundation for the path, lay pavers and pea pebbles in order to create a finished look, and tackle other small projects that can really update the exterior of a home, including updating door hardware and adding numbers.

This event is part of Home Depot’s effort to teach people how to perform simple home improvement projects to make living spaces even more special. There are also free workshops intended for women and for kids.

Free Family Safety Day in Garden Grove

Family Safety DayGet the chance to learn how to protect your family when untoward incidents happen at the Free Family Safety Day happening on March 2, 2013 at the Garden Grove Community Center located at 11300 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove, CA 92840 from 10:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon.

This activity will feature free community resources about disaster preparation for families as well as First Aid training and compression-only CPR, as well as a puppet show and bike safety presentation for children. The sessions are available in Spanish, Vietnamese, and English.

The first 250 participants will be receiving free personal emergency kits. Eight bikes will also be up for raffle as part of the bike safety session for kids. Moreover, In-n-Out Burger lunches will be given to those who participate in the preparedness presentations.

This event is open to interested parties at no cost.
